Toronto Maple Leafs Alumni Game
10 March 2026E.D. Message – Winter 2026
Happy spring everyone – we hope this finds you well and enjoying the start of spring. We’ve been busy at the Children’s Foundation as we continue to grow, reach more children, and connect with our community in so many wonderful ways.
Over the last quarter, we’ve approved nearly 200 applications for everything from gymnastics, to YMCA memberships, to swimming lessons, to music and dance lessons, to beds, mental health supports and camp registration. As the cost of living continues to rise—alongside increasing housing and food insecurity—many local children and youth are missing out on experiences that should be within reach. With your help, we’re working hard to narrow that gap and are committed to building a more equitable Muskoka.
At the end of February, Wendel Clark and the Leaf Alumni came to Bracebridge for a great night of community spirit, philanthropy, and the good old hockey game! With a packed house of over 1100 people in attendance , the CFM was able to raise over $35,000 for kids in Muskoka. Thanks to our many sponsors, silent auction donators, and attendees for such a great night. Stay tuned for upcoming big news about the 2027 return of the Leafs!
We’re presently working hard to begin the planning for our biggest fundraiser of the year, Gala #22 at Windermere House in November! Under the great direction of co-chairs Val Newlands and Shannon Corbeil, things are starting to take shape – watch our social media feeds for information on sponsorship and silent auction donation opportunities and ticket sales.
To date, about 150 children have been approved with grants to attend summer camp. Camp is truly a life altering experience helping develop a child’s self esteem, independence, social skills and overall well being. If you know of a child who would benefit from day or residential camp, applications and information are available on our website at info@childrenofmuskoka.com. If you are able to help us send a child to camp, visit our website to donate today!
Finally, we are so pleased to be working with Gravenhurst Against Poverty (G.A.P.) to support the Healthy Snacks for Children Program. What a hard working, wonderful group of volunteers at G.A.P. providing such a fantastic service to their community! We’re so pleased to be part of it.
Happy spring from everyone at the CFM,
Dave
